Eating disorders are a complex group of disorders that usually have multifaceted influences that reinforce the disorder. Research on the treatment of eating disorders is limited at best, and what is present often reflects the difficulties in positive treatment outcomes. This brief advanced course explores the nature of eating disorders, specifically anorexia nervosa, the neurobiological component of eating disorders, and proposes a treatment focus to increase the potential of positive outcomes in treatment for adults with anorexia nervosa.
