Suicidal Behavior and Neurological Illnesses

Neurological disorders such as epilepsy, multiple sclerosis, and ALS, have significant debilitating neurological and psychological effects on individuals suffering with the conditions. Psychological effects such as feelings of hopelessness, anhedonia, and impulsiveness may all be present in those with the conditions. Research has indicated that symptoms of hopelessness and depression are often present in individuals who struggle with suicidal ideation and suicide-related behaviors. This brief advanced course examines the relationship between suicidal behavior and neurological illnesses.
