The medical provider oath of do no harm is one that provider’s take personally and intertwines into their life and professional practice. Unfortunately, adverse events happen, and various research articles suggest that over 98,000 medical errors occur annually which results in harm to patients. These errors have significant negative effects both for the patient, family members, providers, and the medical profession. This advanced level training designed to define what a medical error is, the federal and Florida state laws related to medical errors, a few of the most common medical and behavioral health medical errors, psychological consequences of medical errors, and prevention strategies. This two-hour course is designed to satisfy the requirements for Florida Clinical Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapist, and Mental Health Counselors.
